Indramayu Court Holds First Hearing in Panji Gumilang’s Money Laundering Case

INDRAMAYU – ASWINNEWS.COM – The leader of Al Zaitun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Panji Gumilang, faced the first hearing of his Money Laundering (TPPU) case at the Indramayu District Court on Thursday (January 23, 2025).

The agenda of the hearing included the reading of the indictment by the public prosecutor (JPU).

In the indictment, the JPU alleged that Panji Gumilang violated Article 70 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 5 of Law Number 16 of 2001 concerning Foundations, as well as Article 3 of the Money Laundering Law.

The defendant is scheduled to file an objection or rebuttal to the charges.

“It is obviously not in accordance [with the law]; if it were, the trial would be over. I have already mentioned that we will file an objection,” said Panji Gumilang after the hearing.

The indictment also mentioned the involvement of Panji Gumilang’s wife and children in the case. Responding to this, Indramayu District Court spokesperson Adrian Anju Purba stated that proving their involvement falls under the responsibility of the JPU.

“The involvement of the defendant’s wife and children in this case is the responsibility of the public prosecutor. It is their obligation to prove the case,” Adrian explained.
