The Aswinnews.com team had the opportunity to visit the workshop of Mr. Acai, a craftsman of aluminum pots and steamers, at his home in Damon Sub-district, Bengkalis District, Bengkalis Regency, on Sunday, January 11, 2025.
When meeting Acai at his workshop, we found him busy repairing a damaged steamer for one of his customers.
The crafting process is carried out manually with simple tools, which makes each piece take longer to complete.
Acai relies on customer orders for his daily and monthly income, offering handmade products at prices lower than the market. He also provides repair services for damaged aluminum pots and steamers and produces aluminum vehicle license plates and other aluminum-based items.
“This aluminum pot and steamer craft business started three years ago, initially using zinc material, with independent funding,” Acai explained during the interview.
Despite economic challenges and a decline in orders, his aluminum pot and steamer business remains resilient. It highlights the potential of this craft as a competitive MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise).
The success of Acai’s business demonstrates that, even in tough economic times, aluminum pot and steamer craftsmanship can be a promising and sustainable MSME venture.
