As the fourth pillar of democracy, alongside the executive, legislative, and judiciary, the press carries a great responsibility to oversee governance, voice the people’s interests, and uphold the nation’s noble values against various threats, including betrayal of the state.

The primary function of the press is to provide accurate and objective information. Through fact-based reporting, the press enables the public to understand important issues affecting their lives. However, its role does not stop at being a source of information. The press also acts as a watchdog, courageously exposing injustice, corruption, and abuse of power. In this capacity, the press often becomes an enemy to traitors who seek to weaken the integrity of the state through immoral acts.

As the moral guardian of the nation, the press combats threats not only from within but also from external forces. Hoaxes, disinformation, and propaganda are tools used by those aiming to destabilize the country. A press that is biased or serves the interests of certain groups risks undermining the democratic order. Therefore, a free, responsible, and ethical press is essential to maintaining the sustainability of democracy.
