The Madinatunnajah Foundation of Cirebon City, led by Hj. Safiah, S.Ag., M.Pd.I, plays a significant role in advancing Islamic education in Dukuh Semar, Kecapi Village, Harjamukti District, Cirebon City. As the Chairperson, Hj. Safiah is responsible for ensuring that all educational institutions under the foundation operate effectively and align with the vision of supporting Islamic syiar.

Formal Educational Institutions

The foundation oversees three formal educational institutions:

1. MI (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) Madinatunnajah

2. MTs (Madrasah Tsanawiyah) Madinatunnajah

3. MA (Madrasah Aliyah) Madinatunnajah

These institutions focus not only on academic curricula but also on the development of Islamic character. Through an integrated approach that combines religious and general education, they aim to produce a generation of Muslims who excel intellectually and uphold noble morals. By incorporating Islamic values into education, students are equipped with profound religious knowledge, social skills, and global awareness, preparing them to contribute positively to society.

Islamic Boarding School

The Madinatunnajah Islamic Boarding School is managed by KH. Muhammad Abdul Mujieb, S.Pd.I, who serves as the spiritual guide and caregiver. He plays a crucial role in nurturing students to have a deep understanding of Islam, humility, and exemplary character. The boarding school is not merely a place for religious learning but also a hub for moral and spiritual development. Students are trained to practice Islamic teachings diligently, enabling them to become independent individuals and effective da’wah practitioners in their communities.

Community Engagement

The synergy between the foundation and the boarding school is evident in various religious activities regularly organized, such as Islamic holiday celebrations, tahlil (prayer gatherings), istighosah (prayers for divine help), and other social events. These activities not only strengthen the faith of the students but also foster closer relationships with the surrounding community.

A prominent example of the foundation’s role in promoting Islamic syiar was the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday, the anniversary of the boarding school, and the haul (commemoration) of its founders and scholars. This event involved diverse community elements, religious leaders, and Islamic organizations in Cirebon City, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to uniting the ummah and instilling love for the Prophet and scholars.

Adapting to Modern Education

In the context of formal education, the foundation ensures that MI, MTs, and MA Madinatunnajah adapt to modern advancements. Beyond teaching religious sciences, these institutions innovate in teaching methods, integrate technology into learning processes, enhance teacher competencies, and offer extracurricular activities that nurture students’ talents and interests.

Conclusion

Under the leadership of Hj. Safiah, S.Ag., M.Pd.I, as Chairperson of the Foundation, and KH. Muhammad Abdul Mujieb, S.Pd.I, as the boarding school’s spiritual guide, the Madinatunnajah Foundation has succeeded in creating a conducive educational environment for the younger Islamic generation. By integrating formal education with pesantren-based training, the foundation has become a vital pillar in supporting Islamic syiar in Cirebon City, particularly in Dukuh Semar, Kecapi Village, Harjamukti District.

This ongoing role is expected to produce a generation that is not only intellectually capable but also Islamic in character, serving as exemplary figures and successors to Islamic da’wah in the future.
