Dekai Yahukimo-aswinnews.com – The Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) 6, part of the HABEMA Operational Command in Papua, actively carried out Border Security Operations along the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (RI-PNG) border, specifically in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Highlands Province.
On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, Satgas Yonif 6 Marinir held a Territorial activity in the form of a Blood Donation Drive at the Dekai Post led by First Lieutenant Marine Dani. This activity was organized as a demonstration of Satgas Yonif 6 Marinir’s social responsibility and active participation in supporting blood availability for the local community within their operational area.
Commander of Satgas Yonif 6 Marinir, Lieutenant Colonel Marine Rismanto Manurung, emphasized the importance of addressing the basic needs of the local community. Since their deployment in Papua, the soldiers at Dekai Post have engaged in Social Communication with various stakeholders within their area of responsibility to act on this directive.
Earlier in December, First Lieutenant Marine Dani conducted a meeting with the Director of RSUD Dekai, Mr. Glent Nurtanio, to discuss health-related issues in the Dekai District, particularly the severe shortage of blood reserves needed for emergencies such as complications during childbirth, accidents, or chronic illnesses.
On the day of the event, the soldiers of Satgas Yonif 6 Marinir, alongside healthcare workers from RSUD Dekai, participated enthusiastically in the Blood Donation Drive, fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration. The activity not only demonstrated the TNI’s care for the surrounding community but also strengthened the relationship between Satgas Yonif 6 Marinir and RSUD Dekai as partners in humanitarian missions.
After the event, Mr. Glent expressed his gratitude, saying,
“Thank you, Commander of Marine HABEMA. The blood reserves at RSUD Dekai have significantly increased after this Blood Donation Drive. God bless you.”
“The initiative by Satgas Yonif 6 Marinir to hold a Blood Donation Drive in Yahukimo represents the TNI’s tangible effort to address the basic needs of the local community, particularly in healthcare, as part of the mission to support accelerated development in Papua,” stated HABEMA Commander, Brigadier General TNI Lucky Avianto, after receiving a report on the activity.
